In its third year, 1FEST Ithaca offers up two stages of grindcore, tech metal, hardcore, noise, experimental electronics, and more, expanded to Friday night, in addition to all-day Saturday, to allow for Maryland Deathfest performers Die Choking and Disparo! (on tour from Australia) to join in the festivities

1FEST Ithaca 2017 boasts headliners Artificial Brain and Kayo Dot this year. The former, currently enjoying accolades throughout the extreme metal community for their latest, “Infrared Horizon”, which Echo & Dust praised for its innovation and technical prowess, stating “none of it sounds human, yet every second of it feels alive”. Avant-garders Kayo Dot return to Ithaca in their fourth visit, on the heals of their latest “Plastic House on Base of Sky” to close out the festival.

Each year, 1FEST Ithaca strives to showcase diversity in extreme music, where people of non-white-male communities are often marginalized. Dynamic acts such as Ascend/Descend, Death Vacation, Ides, Talk Hard, Sparklebomb, Onpoint, Plagues, Bastard Eyes, MONKI, Robot Detective, and of course Esceuela (featuring 1FEST-founding members Jesse Feutes & Katerina Economou), represent this initiative, which is evermore warranted in today’s climate, where our initial 2017 headliner Wormrot, from Singapore, cancelled their entire US tour due to the current social/political tensions in the US.
