COUNTDOWN TO BIG DAY IN:
Big Day In, Ithaca Underground’s biggest show of the year, is on Saturday, December 7 at The Haunt! The event is a twelve-hour festival (12PM – 12AM), filled to the brim with touring and local artists. To celebrate the countdown to the Big Day, there will be an artist profile for each performing artist. Today, we have electroacoustic duo, Xen Model!
ARTIST PROFILE: XEN MODEL
Xen Model is an electronic duo from Los Angeles, California. Their sounds are layered and weaved together to create intricate auditory sensations. They create empty space with silence… and then fill it with bouncing drum beats, phasing synthesizers, and trinkets that are reminiscent of video game sound effects. All of these are held together by steady and meticulous drum beats, gives the ambient melodies a heartbeat and tempo.
Xen Model’s latest release is called Ostor. The seven instrumental tracks showcase their varied and unique sound in a multitude of ways. This really comes through in “Soft Serve”. The six and a half minute songs includes pulsing bass, whirling synthesizers and unexpected drop offs into colorful phasing and flanging effects. A synergy and relaxation is created as the listener eases into the track and then is pulled into the groove of the drum beats.
