ARTIST PROFILE: DENZELWORLDPEACE

BIG DAY IN #15

denzelworldpeace is an electronic beat maker from Buffalo, NY. He uses a wide variety of styles within his art, but his ultimate goal is to create music that can be played both on dance floors and in headphones. Their sound is a soothing blend of indie, lo-fi, and hip-hop, which fits right into the current lo-fi hip hop craze that you can often find on YouTube. This is denzelworldpeace’s second time in Ithaca and we’re excited for him to experience and participate in a night filled with music and artistry.

BIG DAY IN #15

denzelworldpeace just dropped his EP Body Pillow today!!! The album, still hot off the press, has six new songs. Each track feels like the baby blue sky of the album’s cover–it is relaxing, but also has a consistent forward movement, like the birds soaring by in the sky. In “It’s U”, the a crystalline synth opens the song, pulsing underneath the sounds of children talking and playing. The sounds of clattering, whistle blowing, and the ambience of the space reminds me of gym class in elementary school. Then, the ambience drops off into a grooving rhythm and synth flutes. I feel like I’ve entered into a world made of of lush trees and rushing water. The drum beat drives me forward and makes me feel like I am a protagonist in a video game, just starting my journey into  a whole new world.
